The biggest movie news of the past week

26/07/2010 to 01/08/2010

This past week we had some pretty interesting news. Miramax Films was sold by Disney to Filmyard Holdings LLC for 660 million dollars. If anybody doesn't know who Miramax is, it's the company that was run by the Weinstein bros. and brought audiences countless of films by incredible directors Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino, The English Patient by Anthony Minghella , Clerks by Kevin Smith to name a few.

Total Recall is going to be remade by Die Hard 4 director Len Wiseman and from a script by Kurt Wimmer (The Recruit, Street Kings). Not incredible news as the original Arnold Schwarzenegger film was perfect. Other news is that they are discussions being made for Lost mastermind Damon Lindelof to rewrite the Alien prequel film to be directed by Ridley Scott which isn't bad at all if it's true. Another rumor less likely but not bad is that Mad Men's Don Draper Jon Hamm is up for playing Superman in the Christopher Nolan produced epic.

The final news of the week is that Liam Neeson has uncommitted himself to playing Abraham Lincoln in Steven Spielberg's film. Robert Rodriguez is in talks to direct Marvel's Deadpool which is a match in heaven. The weirdest news of all this week is that singer Nick Cave is rewriting the Crow remake. I have no comment on that.
