I started work on 11/27 and that has been reported as the official start date. We will be talking to the lawyers next week to clarify all these issues. To my knowledge, I should not get a W2 as I did not get paid in 2007. Those wages should appear on my 2008 W2.
Outside of this topic, I have a question. Will I be eligible for the economic stimulus for 2007 if I did not get my W2 ? My husband will be filing the tax return (as joint) but he will not be able to enter my W2 information.

Am in the same situation, 221(g) yellow form Mumbai since mid-November. Still in India awaiting further indication from the consulate. Have had lawyers call DOS, have called the consulate a few times but the response is standard - awaiting feedback from Washington, no way to expedite.

BTW.. please explain what is this $600 rebate? I already filed my taxes myself, and maybe I missed this.
Its part of Bush's stimulus package... I don't don't think anything is required on your part besides filing taxes. The rebates should be coming in around May according to NPR, if I am not mistaken. $600 per individual filing. In a joint filing $600 each for husband and wife, $300 for each kid (ceiling?)

What about EB1s? Were they also Unavailable in the interim July 2- July 17 blackout period?

This is a good news. But It is scary that they don't have any mechanism to pull the application based on PD/country.

USCIS offices process application in order they receive them physically (not in RD sequence). They don't process based on PD's. For adjudication ty need physical file to review documents, medicals, photocopies, etc. Sorting physical files of such a large volume in any other order would be a tedious task. Obviously they don't index files, and keep that info on the system, which would makei it easy to locate a file. Therefore, unless they do that, even if they know A# of cases due for approval, process is unlikely to work.

I insist that the name of the person who used profane language on IV website be revealed. It is a serious and urgent issue. Such people must be exposed for the public good.
I fully think that if IV is serious for the dignity of its members and wants this not to happen again, then the person should be revealed and banned. I know this has happened in the past also but not taking this kind of action has given courage to such kind of people to attempt it again.

The raw majority definitely counts. The reson S.1932 failed was because it was an extremely republican bill -- it went through without a single democrat vote. A small fraction of republican was able to black mail the visa numbers stuff because of republican can not afford to lose any single republican vote. They needed all of them to get it trhough. In another words, those anti-immigration guys did not build a coalition against legal immigration, as they still can not today, they simply black mailed it.
The situation for PACE act is definitely different. PACE enjoys broad support from both side. It will be very difficult for any of those anti-immigration guy to play the same kind of trick again. It simply won't work.
Your belief in raw majority votes in the conference is touching. ;-) But all it takes is one person -- one Sensenbrenner, or equivalent to build a coalition within the conference, and one house leader to pick and choose the members of the conference.
To reiterate -- 20% of the house is in the House (Anti) Immigration Caucus. The house bill was voted in by a clear majority. Chew on that.

My I-485 application has been received by TSC on July 2nd. I have not received anything yet. My check is also not cashed. Is there anyone who applied on the same date and did not get his RN yet.

Address is a sensitive issue here in the US. USCIS aims to keep a tab on all aliens and has a rule regarding address changes being notified to the USCIS. They actually can penalize somebody who does not follow this rule.
So giving out a temporary address when you first arrive in the country could be okay but it is not okay once you start your employment/credit history.
Every address you have ever put on your credit card application/where you have received utility bills/received car insurance papers/dmv documents is actually pretty easily traced.
Just try accessing your credit report. It will list out all the addresses you have been in the past few years.
So having your friend's address for correspondence is a little tricky.
I have tried to have a PO box for correspondence with utility companies/credit cards/bank statements but as I understand you cannot provide a PO Box address to USCIS.
If I remember correctly when I went for fingerprinting they actually had a section for physical address and one for mailing address; but for most parts the documents you fill out for USCIS don't allow you the option of filling out separate physical address and mailing address.
Since the potential for being penalized by USCIS exists you should contact your lawyer and try to figure it out.
