Eagle Eye (2008)

director: D.J. Caruso

writers: John Glenn, Travis Adam Wright, Dan McDermott

starring: Shia LeBeouf, Michelle Monaghan

genre: Action, Adventure

After seeing Eagle Eye I’m now sure that Hollywood will ever stop making these god awful films. I had been avoiding seeing the film for so long after hearing weird things. And let me just say it’s worse than I thought. It’s an implausible mash of action, effects and absurdity that goes even beyond Michael Bay’s films. Saddle up Eagle Eye is not a great ride.

The story deals with the sudden implication of two characters Jerry Shaw (Shia LeBeouf) and Rachel Holloman (Michelle Monaghan) and how out of nowhere there plucked out by this unknown phone caller that is in control of all electronic device on the earth and is telling them what to do or there will be consequences. The FBI are also after them and are searching to who is behind this all. In the end we find out and let me tell you its some of the most lamest most unbelievable, idiotic idea ever behind it all. I don’t want to spoil it because its so bad. But as you would guess everything goes back to normal at the end.

Eagle Eye script is one of the worse that probably has been passed through Hollywood. The whole problem is the center idea meaning villain is stupid and implausible. There are others films generally sci-fi films that have dealt with this but more properly. Here the film never gives you a reason, of how, why when all this is possible. The government just did something and that’s it. I dont want to be spoon fed but i do want some reason and a point to it all.

The actors, the director, the production are all good. That’s the sad thing. They could have all done a cliché action film better off than this piece of crap. How is its possible that a person has access to every computer, every electronic device in the country. That’s right they can’t. Its impossible, Everybody running around in the film to find out it was a freaking computer. Yep I said it. An A.I. computer. Who works on the fact of protecting the U.S. , its laws, and its people. It turns against the us government because they weren’t doing there job. What’s crazy is that a PC went crazy. If the PC has the data, laws all the proper info on countries laws and thought the film blabbers about whats right for the U.S. , didn’t it self aware it self that PC has no rights that killing is against the law and that revolution is permitted only by humans not machines. I mean this isn't Skynet or Hal but a cheap rip off that pardon my french sucks.

Anyway please spare yourself the trouble of ever seeing this film. Better to see “Showgirls” or “Plan 9 from Outer Space” or even see better off “Manos the Hands of Fate”. Let me just end by saying what were they thinking and where has people's common sense gone. I rather have stupid Arnie action films back than this.
