The biggest movie news of the past week

18/10/2010 to 24/10/2010

The Hobbit Casting

The Hobbit (2012) seemed like one of those films that wasn't going to make it to the big screen. Due to MGM's many problems the Hobbit had been pushed back a number of times. Now finally that everything is back on track and Peter Jackson has committed himself to directing the Hobbit casting has begun. Martin Freeman has been already cast as Bilbo Baggins. The role that was previously played by Ian Holm in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Freeman is know for his role as Tim in the British TV series the Office and as Arthur Dent in the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Besides Freeman also many of the Dwarves have been cast but by unknown actors to the mass.

Stephen Norrigton of the Crow Remake

The Crow (2011) remake seems to have gotten into little of a speed bump by losing it's director Stephen Norrigton. Norrigton has directed the films Blade and The League of Extradoniry Gentlemen. His departure from the Crow remake is due to studio demands and lack of creative freedom on the project. As always studios never disappoint on not letting directors have creative control over there films.

Mel Gibson no longer has cameo in The Hangover 2

The Hangover 2 (2011) production has dropped Mel Gibson from his cameo role due to lack of full support from cast and crew. His role would have been of a tatoo artist.
