Thor News!

Now that superhero films are in fashion and everyone has gone bananas with Iron Man and other films. I thought it too be a good idea to inform people about the upcoming Thor film. Thor now already in pre-production state a while and casting is almost finalized with big names getting to the cast. As with Marvel's other films they are all to be set in the same universe. So expect Samuel L. Jackson in this as Nick Fury as with the others. Too anyone's ignorance Thor is the mythilogical god of the Norse. He is the son of Odin god and leader of Asgard. All is the same in the comics to its story with minor diffrence that Thor decides to help humanity and leave Asgard and he is connected to a human doctor called Donald Blake. Im not going to go any further details because it gets quite complicated. The film is going to be directed by Kenneth Branagh, probably known to most as the guy who played in the second Harry Potter film the professor for the dark arts. But he should be known more for his direction and acting in his many Shakespeare films. Branagh to be chosen for this gives the film another feeling of class and seriousness. Bringing a norse god into a real world enviroment and then meshing him with Iron Man and the Hulk is not a easy task. So bringing a guy who did Hamlet shows some serious thought, but on the other hand there is the questinon can he handle the action? Time will tell..

The casting of the film has mainly been done. Title character of Thor has been cast already and to be played by Chris Hensworth. He played Kirk's dad in the new Star Trek. Interesting choice, unkonwn and at least not a wrestler as all of these superohero parts always get rumored to go. Loki, Thor's evil step brother is to be played by Tom Huddlestone another unkown to the masses but of theatre background. You might be saying where's the star power? Thats when we come to Natalie Portman's casting as Thor/Donald Blake's lover Jane Foster. Portman already in films like Star Wars, V for Vendetta surely can do action and fiction very well and her acting talent is very well known. Anybody who disagrees should just see Closer. In supporting cast Colm Feore who is a top class actor who's played in Titus is in a still yet to be announced role, also Jamie Alexander who will play Sif and recently announced Stellan Skarsgard again in a uknown role. Skarsgard many who will know for his great performances in blockbuster films such as Pirates of Caribean as Bootstrap Bill or as the villain in King Arthur and for those more into cultured cinema hes played in Breaking the Waves and Good Will Hunting.

Now filming is due to begin in January and anticipation is high. With the success of Iron Man and Incredible Hulk. Marvel is hoping for the same with Thor and Captain America later on. Thor already with a talented cast and very good director handling the project seems be on its way to be one the most interesting comic book films to hit the big screen. Thor is scheduled to come out May 20, 2011.
